How did Brock Purdy play in starting deb

  • Fox tried and failed to not make comparisons between Tom Brady and Brock Purdy as the two faced off in Purdy's NFL starting debut Sunday. But at the end of the day, Brady looked like the shellshocked quarterback making his first career start while Purdy looked like the savvy veteran play-caller, with the 49ers running away with a 35-7 victory. The 49ers ruined Brady's perfect record (6-0) against quarterbacks making their first career start. While a big part of the reason was a ma sive day by running back Christian McCaffrey, Purdy didn't play like a quarterback who was asked to just hand it off.Purdy completed 16 of 21 pa ses for 185 yards and two touchdowns, to go with a rushing touchdown. He managed the 49ers' offense expertly, even after Deebo Samuel was carted off the field with an ankle injury. That seems wild to say about Mr. Irrelevant 2022, but to come out and dominate Brady and the Buccaneers is nothing to turn one's nose up at.Was Sunday a fluke, or is this who Purdy is? He's certainly heading in the right direction.MORE: With his starting debut out of the way, Purdy can turn his attention to the rest of the year as the job is far from done for the 49ers.
